Yoga for brain injury
For people recovering from traumatic brain injury (TBI), concussion or head injury, yoga offers gentle exercise with therapeutic benefit. Many survivors have found no trace of occasions before to stay in shape. to limit balance difficulties, loss of motor control activities, dizziness and neck injuries physics, further limiting an already reduced lifestyle. Fortunately, the practice of yoga can fit a violation of any disease or that lends itself particularly wellTBI recovery.
Where do I start? With the recent popularity of yoga in the West, students can now choose anything from hot to Ashtanga Yoga Kundalini. People with back or neck problems in addition to head trauma probably want to start with a strain without teachers trained in Iyengar yoga uses props to help correct the alignment. Kripalu trained teachers tend to calm, to offer courses in restoration. Each yoga class, the flow is in the foreground (not too fast, though) reclassify the sequential-treatment a benefit to persons, damage to his left-brain or rational side help immediately. Before you begin a yoga practice, the survivors should talk with their treatment provider, and teacher of yoga are intended. Most teachers askinjuries at the beginning of class, but few people understand the complexity of TBI alone. Yoga is designed to support and promote growth, does not exhaust the body and the system nervous.
For this reason, the survivors might first want to stay away from or Kundalini YogaBikram Yoga, both of which provide intensive training. Kundalini Yoga aims to awaken the dormant energy potential survivors of TBI, which sounds like a good thing. In fact, it can help tremendously - once you have stopped the neurons misfire and "short circuit". Most of the survivors inaccurate DMS their resistance, but a bit 'too challenging himself. Kundalini Yoga works hard in the subtle levels, thus hard to control with more energy. Sometimes fastingKundalini Awakening proves too sensitive for TBI survivors. The Method - Step Up to Dance Review
...who are looking for a challenging step DVD, you've found it! I love step aerobics & am trying to build my collection of home workout DVDs. While I love Reebok The Video, I wanted something with more choreography and this DVD delivered! I'm pretty coordinated and when I used to take step classes, I could easily keep up with instructors who liked to mix up moves rather than stick to basic ones. However, in all my years stepping, I've never seen instructors try the creative combos found in this DVD - probably b/c everyone, myself included, would've just stood and stared, which was my initial reaction when I tried this DVD today! However, I liked Lisa Wheeler's cueing, her voice (unlike Denise you know who!), and the combos so much I decided to concentrate and learn the steps this first time. I won't lie to you, it took me well over an hour just to get through the aerobics routine, b/c I kept having to rewind and redo the combos (and despite all the pausing in my cardio routine, just by relearning the combos over and over, I broke a major sweat!). I really hate to build, build, then repeat the same steps, so I really loved the structure of this DVD. You get to do 3 amazing combos, each punctuated by quick but effective thigh/glutes moves, then at the end you get to put all 3 combos together. I love this format for it makes the time fly and I was having so much fun focusing on the steps that I didn't have time to focus on the burn :) After the aerobics segment, there's a challenging ab workout that uses Pilates principles and really works your core. This is one DVD that I know I will not get bored with.
The Method - Step Up to Dance Overview
Combines cardio step moves inspired by jazz, ballet and modern dance, with the precision toning techniques of yoga and of the work of Joseph H. Pilates.
Genre: Exercise/Fitness
Rating: NR
Release Date: 22-APR-2003
Media Type: DVD
The Method - Step Up to Dance Specifications
This dance-filled, intermediate/advanced cardio-step 60-minute video draws moves from jazz dance, ballet, and modern dance as well as traditional step aerobics to give you a workout rich in choreography challenges. Leader Lisa Wheeler instructs superbly--she has you follow her assistants while she shows you a change before inviting you to do it with her. Even so, choreography changes and layering (adding more moves and variations onto the basic choreography you've learned) happen so quickly that you may find yourself stopping the video as you learn it. The good news is that you won't get bored later on. Strength and balance intervals from yoga and Pilates interrupt the cardio for a well-rounded and energetic workout performed to live drumming. At the end of the long cardio workout, Wheeler puts all the combinations together for a routine of over 20 different moves. After that, you drop to the mat for a 10-minute, Pilates-based abdominal segment--done so slowly that you can't cheat--then a yoga sequence for flexibility. --Joan Price

Intermediate Step - dusty - Ohio
This is a step routine with intermediate intensity and choreography. I did not think this was hard to do and was able to get it on the first time through. The instructor is very pleasant and cues well. I'm not sure why the word 'Dance' is in the title of this video, because it's more athletic than dancy. To keep my heart rate up I had to add more high-impact moves like jogging instead of marching and running up instead of stepping up, but overall not a bad workout for a lighter day.
I love this one - C. Martin - Georgia
I really enjoy The Method and this one is one of my favorites. I appreciate a good challenge, and you will certainly get that in this video. I like any video that incorporates cardio with toning and stretching. You get all three in this one. I am not sure I understand the confusion other reviewers experienced about this being a step video. If the title didn't give it away, the fact that the instructor is on the cover standing on a step and the description on the back of the video should have!
Hated it but now I love it.... - L. Merewether -
The first two times I went through this video, I couldn't keep up and got really frustrated. Now that I have practiced a bit and mastered the routines, this is my current favorite video. I get a really nice workout and I don't get bored. If you like step aerobics and you have some patience to learn a routine, this is a great video. If you want something really straight forward with a solid no fuss workout, you may want to look at other videos like Kathy Smith or Keli Roberts.
Impossible - S. Burton - Orem, UT USA
I like to be able to do most of the steps in an exercise video the first time I try it but, barring that, I like to be able to tell that I will be able to learn to do it in the future. This instructor (she's kind of lackluster and not inspiring--in other words: BLAH!) doesn't give enough information about right and left foot. There are a lot of turning around moves and I need more instruction when I can't see the TV. The steps feel so unnatural that once I've turned back around I'm never on the correct foot. It's really difficult even for an experienced dancer. (Karen Voight is an EXCELLENT instructor.)
The introduction is very brief and doesn't tell any of the benefits of this workout. She doesn't give any safety tips or tell you how to get the most out of the exercise. Why did they bother putting it in?
This video requires MUCH more space than most people have in their living rooms. If you don't have lots of empty space, don't get this DVD. Also, they use this little "The Method Toning Bar" as a sort of prop at one point in the workout. I suppose you could use a chair instead--a very tall-backed one--but I just balanced on one leg and was fine. (I hate it when you have to use their special little props and they don't suggest any alternate equipment.)
I also didn't like the ceaseless drumming. It's just plain loud. A little variety in the music would be nice. And why do they have five people on a crowded-looking set all doing the exact same steps? It just adds to the confusion.
It's hard to get your heart rate up when you're frustrated with difficult steps and lack of space (which is adequate for most other videos). I didn't enjoy this workout at all and felt badly that it got such high reviews: thus inspiring my investment.
All in all, I just didn't like this program and will probably not buy any more "The Method" DVDs because they get such mixed reviews. Here I am, throwing my review into the mix for this program. Hopefully it will help newcomers to "The Method," like me, make a more informed choice.

Kids Musical Yoga: Let's Go to the Jungle Review
this video is short, and it is odd, and i actually wanted to turn it off immediately becuase i didn't like it... but to my surprise, my twin toddlers wouldn't allow me to turn it off, and in fact, have been requesting to watch it every single day since we got it... there are yoga poses to do, they pretend to be a snake or a tree or a balloon, it is just disguised as playing along to the songs, so maybe that is why the kids like it so much... there is some deep breathing, some relaxation, including savasana pose (spelling?)... i think for the toddler age group, this is great, it covers some good material, and in a way that my children can't get enough of, whereas i can't get them to watch any of the other yoga videos with me, let alone participate!!!!

Lots of music, little yoga - Sarah Feinstein - Chicago, IL
I was pretty disappointed with this video, but my daughter (age 2) seemed to like it. There is a lot of singing and a long intro, but little substance. There is little yoga, so there isn't much for kids to follow along with. As other reviews mentioned, it has a short running time.
Please, do not waste your money - A. C. Quintero - usa
I wish I would've read the 1 and 2 stars reviews, they are 100% right, this is a very short DVD, only really 15 to 20 min of a very poorly made sing along dvd, the songs are really not that great, there is no yoga at all, not excersice, for example you will find that they go to the jungle and they see a monkey, so you imagine they will do a yoga pose, NO they just get bunch of bananas that pass along to share.... my kids just look at each other like what do we supose to do now, go grab bananas??? Even the kids in the DVD do not look like they are having a great time, not blame, the teachers are not very energetic happilly conducting them. I just wish I could get my money back.... Good yoga DVD is the ABC yoga made for Yoga Kids with Marsha WenigYoga Kids, Vol. 2: ABC's for Ages 3-6, best yoga Kids DVD, my sons love it
A little weird and disappointing - Lrn4Lf -
I agree with a previous reviewer that Yoga Kids (vol 2) is far better than this series of yoga videos for kids. I found this series (Kids Musical Yoga Lets Go To The Ocean/Jungle) to be disappointing. I like the original music and found myself singing the tunes later (any may consider getting the CD). But there was very little yoga - maybe 6 poses or so (and odd ones at that). There was a lot of talking, way too much talking, by the instructor who had a condescending manner or was just a little weird.
This video had potential if it has way more poses and songs, and way less talking.

Yoga: Sweat & Freedom With Pilates! Review
I'm a daily exerciser, and like to mix things up frequently to keep my workouts fresh. I have several yoga and pilates dvds, as well as dance, kickboxing and anything else that strikes my fancy. The thing that I liked about this dvd was that it didn't make me choose yoga over pilates or cardio. I can do a little bit of all three and finish feeling like I had a good stretch, a little cardio and a nice toning segment for my abs and legs.
In this video you start with a very nice stretch-the one thing though that I would not recommend is in the neck rolls rolling your head all the way backwards, I have always been told that that is not especially good for the neck vertabra, so I would go forward side, side, and back forward again, but that is a very small thing. The stretches are very good, warming up hips neck, shoulders, etc.
You will do some yoga poses, which will include warrior I, warrior II, childs pose, prayer twists, eagle pose, down dog, etc. The poses are shown in three variations, the girl to the right shows beginner modifications, and often uses yoga blocks for those just starting out that may be less flexible, the girl to the left does intermediate versions, and Carly does the more advanced poses.
From yoga you will go to some light cardio and a little bit of kickboxing. Just something to get the heart rate up. You'll also do some squats for the legs & butt.
Lastly, a bit of yoga/pilates core moves. Boat pose for the abs, in it's several variations are shown and a few more abs exercises from pilates for the powerhouse (abs). You will do a leg series and then lastly, Corpse pose or shivasana to have a final rest at the end.
Overall, a good dvd. The music was generally good throughout, sometimes just quiet instrumental, sometimes a little louder, and with a more Indian sound to it. Most of the time the music was just right, but there was a section that I felt she had to talk over the music, but again, a small thing.
The instructor herself is good. She has good form, shows the modifications and makes you feel like you do what is right for you and your practice and she is here to give you options. She is upbeat and inspiring without being chatty or over the top, which I liked.
The set is bare bones...kind of like when I took dance lessons as a kid. A plain room with wood floors. Nothing fancy needed.
I have purchased the yoga & pilates disk as well and am now excited to try that one now that I have tried and liked this one.
I would say beginners could do this dvd with the modifications she shows fairly easily. If you are already familiar with yoga then you can follow Carly for the more advanced version and have a nice fusion dvd to add to your practice.

My name is Angela, I bough this dvd without trusting it too much, because of the price, is cheap, but it is a very good workout. You have yoga, pilates, low impact aerobics, and kicboxing. You work hard for 45 minutes, with 5min. warm up, and another 5 min. cool down. A very complete routine, to sweat and have fun. I'll buy the other yoga pilates, this is a very decent dvd. The instructor is very warm, and I relly liked her. It is a great price for such a good stuff.

The Practical Power Of Yoga Review
UpTooLateReadingBook's 1/29/09, Christa Debarros 1/13/09 & Gitma's 1/12/09 reviews are great. This is a mostly lecture, but part teaching/demonstration of yoga poses. The reasons why people do it, the misconceptions, the mind/body union, the doing less is more, the giving yourself permission to relax will help everyone (it's not a sin), to do yoga to wake up instead of coffee, to prevent/heal backaches & even prostate issues & more.
There are some stories, but mostly they stick to the why's & basic teaching. It's an hour with a 20 min bonus of more poses.
They have the audience participate either using the floor/mats or sitting in a chair doing mountain, sun salutations, cobbler's, cobra, triangle, half moon, camel and relaxation or savasana and meditation.
Normally I get bored very easily, but because Rodney Yee & Colleen Saidman practice being in the now with energy, I wasn't at all, and the program moved at nice fast pace, and was over before I knew it.
This is for people who never tried yoga, or beginners for the most part, but even with the hundred? of yoga dvds I've bought/rented in the past 6 years, and a couple of yoga classes I took, I did learn to put more emphasis in using the upper back in my back bends as well as making sure the legs stay straight & not allow my hips to pull forward to give a fake feeling I'm bending more which puts pressure on the lower back. Also, to always ground with the feet, even in seated poses.
I only wish they spent longer in the teaching of each pose, but that's because I'm so detailed oriented, and probably wished this was three hours long.

Worst Yoga DVD ever! - Alden Frostad -
My mother in law bought me this because the lady at B&N said it was one of the best. How wrong could she be. This DVD goes through only about a 1/2 dozen of the most basic of basic yoga moves. Maybe if you have never heard of yoga or just arrived from another planet will you find something useful on it, but I spent an agonizingly long time watching this hoping there would be something, but alas nothing. Don't waste your money. Colleen is nice to look at for a woman of her age (and the one hot brunette in the audience), but hey; lets face it, that is not why your buying a yoga DVD.
A Seminar On Yoga - A Slow-Moving But Interesting Introduction To Yoga - Bold Consumer - USA
I watched it and followed the instructions, even though I am not at the beginner level. It's actually not bad as an introduction to yoga.
Will you watch it more than a couple of times? Some will probably find that it is a very non-threatening approach to exercise which finally gets them moving. Most of us will probably enjoy watching it and learning from it once and then move on to something that moves faster.
It's funny that I say something that moves faster when I'm always looking for slow-moving yoga practice, but this one moves a little slower than you'll want as a regular routine. It's great for a starter though.
Not a "work out" DVD per se, but nevertheless enlightening - Free Falling - Paradise
I think that this is an important DVD to watch. It definitely gives you a wonderful overview of Rodney Yee's mindset and how he approaches yoga, both physically and mentally. Rodney and his wife Colleen are great to watch together (she seems to make him very humble and light, which is sweet). It really helped me to see yoga as so much more beautiful and enjoyable and way less scary. If you are a beginner I recommend watching this and if you are an advanced student it is a nice reminder of all that yoga has to offer besides the physical benefits.

Yoga Link: Shoulder Shape-Up with Jill Miller Review
I completed the Workshop in one sitting prior to completing the Practice. Although the DVD doesn't include traditional strength exercises, I did experience some very light muscle soreness after completing the Workshop but for some reason not after completing the Practice. The Workshop is 38 minutes with the following chapters:
Shoulder Warm Ups: (7:54)
* Epaulet Arm Circles - arm circles with arms bent at elbow
* Pranic Bath - difficult to explain but a very nice fluid movement
* Anahata Arm Swings - swinging in front and in back, first touching hands and then clasping
* Pendulum Arm Swings - swinging up and over, each arm going in opposite direction
* Danda Kriya - using a rod for three different stretching/flexibility exercises. I did not have a rod that was long enough so used a strap instead, although a rod would have been nice for the last movement.
Flexion/Extension: (5:46)
* Arms in Flexion - movements with arms raised overhead, including arm circles
* Double Extension - arms clasped in back and raising up as high as you can go
* Yogini Mudflap Girl & Andrey's Rack - two poses sitting on floor with arms extending in back of you
* Shoulder Shrugs
* Lat Lengthener - uses a table or ledge to stretch the lat muscles as you lean over
Internal/External Rotation: (5:06)
* Three uniquely named poses with emphasis on rotation of the shoulder. The last pose (Holy Cow at the Trough), is done leaning forward with your elbows bent and resting on a ledge, pressing a yoga block between your hands, and slowly walking your elbows closer and closer together. A second version of Holy Cow is done pushing back and forth with your hands.
Protraction/Retraction: (8:15)
Protraction is drawing shoulder blades together; retraction is reaching forward for separation of the shoulder blades
* Protraction/Retraction Pushups - The emphasis here is on protraction/retraction of the shoulder, not on pushups
* Prone stretch with arms crossed in front of body
* Body Surfing - prone with arms stretched overhead, pulling yourself forward and then backwards across the floor (you will need a blanket over a smooth floor for this)
* Open Sesame - lying prone, spread arms out, roll over on to one shoulder so arm is stretched in back, adjusting hips to put feet on ground, and reaching the other arm up and over to try meet with the other hand in back
Detraction: (2:56)
* ¼ upward bow at wall - looks like an overhead tricep stretch, pulling your elbow in towards the head with the other hand, except that your upper hand is against a wall
Dolphin/Downward Dog: (4:07)
Putting everything together to show how it is used in these common poses.
* Dolphin with external rotation
* Downward Dog with Bent Elbows - challenges the strength of external rotation as your elbows rotate in
* Dolphin to Dog Pushups - Start in Dolphin with external rotation, and move through bent elbow Dog into straight arms, back into Dolphin
The Practice is 43 minutes, putting each of these moves together and adding a few reps.
Round out the practice using the extras on the DVD to work the forearms and hands:
* Forearm grips (2 min)
* Wrist/Palm/Forearm Stretch (2 min)
* Blackberry stretch for the thumb (1 min)
The final Extra is arm circles on the wall (3 min) to stretch the pectoralis muscles.
There is also a Directions of Movement Primer (2 min) that explains the 12 directions of movement for the shoulder.
All in all, I really enjoyed this DVD. I felt it did a great job of working the shoulders from each possible direction and feel that it may help prevent future issues. I liked the focus on mobility versus strength. I don't really have shoulder problems, so the difficult part will be finding a way to work it into my rotation. But I am glad to have in in my library.

BENEFICIAL AND PRACTICAL - Mini Marshmallow - Bergen County, NJ
I have found a worthy series of yoga DVDs that are truly helpful and effective. This is my second one of the YOGA LINK series. To gain mainly flexibility for your shoulders, this DVD features the usual breathing primer, workshop and the practice. A bonus here is the shoulder extras, 2 minute movements. The props used are a yoga block, mat, dowel, and a ledge. The exercises include extensions, rotations, shrugs, push-ups. You'll be mostly standing, but you'll also be on the floor. I highly recommend to do the workshop first because the moves are very new. It's just a little longer than the practice, which is 43 minutes.
Shoulder Shape up with Jill Miller - Audrey Christian - Arkansas,USA
This DVDYoga Link: Shoulder Shape-Up with Jill Miller practice is wonderful! I have had two frozen shoulders and countless weeks of PT, without ever geeting full rage of motion back in my shoulders. Jill shows how to do theses movements(saftley)to widen the range of motion and also tone the muscles in shoulders, upper back and arms.
Shape Up Series - Un francais en angleterre - Londres, UK
I really like Jill Miller's Shape Up Series. The common principle within the Series is that there's a workshop section where Jill Miller gives a clear explanation of the exercises and a practice section which obviously is meant to lead you during your practice. Compared to hips and core, the shoulder work out is easier and shorter (a good thing in my view as the only criticism I have of the other 2 workouts is that they're a bit long). Even if you don't do yoga you should be able to follow this one and I'd imagine you'd benefit tremendously from it. My girlfriend has often pain in her neck and typically manages to get better by working on her shoulders with this DVD.

Check Out ZenMama with Rainbeau Mars: Prenatal Yoga Workout for $9.44
ZenMama with Rainbeau Mars: Prenatal Yoga Workout Review
I am a huge fan of Rainbeau Mars as anyone who visits my ratings can tell. I find her style and philosophy to be amazing and enlightening. That said while I enjoy this video and can see it becoming a staple for those days when I am feeling not quite up to a rigorous workout or as I get further along in my pregnancy (only about 5.5 weeks) it is definitely not challenging enough for me. I am into intermediate yoga even doing some advanced yoga postures as well and I found that while sublimely relaxing this was not enough for me. Granted, Rainbeau is I believe 7 months pregnant in the video which may account for the more relaxed style.
I still think that this is a great video, especially if someone is not necessarily experienced in yoga or working out in general but want to start their pregnancy on a healthier foot. I personally will be using it for those days when I need to get my body moving and stretched but dont feel up to a very hard work out.
One thing that I absolutely love is that there is an inclusion of the baby into the flow of the practice, it makes you come into focus on not just why you are working out in that moment (to ensure a healthy pregnancy and de-facto a healthy baby) but also the miracle of pregnancy and conceiving and housing a child within your body. Its very affirming and very empowering!
ZenMama with Rainbeau Mars: Prenatal Yoga Workout Overview
Your pregnancy, one of the most profound and transformational experiences of your life, is the time to take very special care of your baby and yourself. Practicing yoga during pregnancy can help you to become more sensitive to your body’s and your baby’s ever changing needs. In this program yoga instructor Rainbeau Mars provides a safe and effective pre-natal yoga practice that will help you to maintain a strong and centered body and mind. You will work through a sequence of postures that are not only designed to keep you happy in the moment, but also to prepare you for the experience of giving birth. Since your yoga practice during this special time will need to be adjusted depending on which trimester you are in, Rainbeau works with two assistants. Together, the three of them demonstrate how each posture should be practiced according to where you are in your pregnancy. Benefits of pre-natal yoga practice: • Increases endurance and stamina • Builds strength and flexibility • Improves concentration and breath awareness

Enjoyed this video - Kathleen E. Kiyak - Rochester, NY
I have not done a lot of yoga before I became pregnant but this was a very enjoyable workout. I liked all of the variations depending on which trimester you are in and how you are feeling. I not only could feel my body working I also felt a great stretch for my whole body which really relaxed me by the end. I would recommend this to other pregnant women.
Challenging, Approachable, Restoring - Q. Laura - Seattle, WA
ZenMama with Rainbeau Mars has grown on me among my small collection of pre-natal yoga videos. I wasn't convinced at first, and found some of the asanas more challenging than I had hoped for - however, those little challenges have worked themselves out, and it wasn't enough for me to shelve this video. Now, it's risen to the top of my list.
Rainbeau Mars uses a variety of asanas, talks them through in a very human, compassionate way, and encourages you to welcome the challenges and breathe through them. At first, I felt she talked too much through the video, but after awhile, I realized that it helped me build a connection to my practice. Also, her talking through shavasana at the end really tuned me into 1) how to relax my body 2) why this is considered such a hard pose, even when it would seem so easy!
I believe this video will be a challenge for those who are not already practicing yoga, or who are new to fitness. Her third trimester accommodations might be useful for those who are in even their first trimester, but need a bit more support through some of the asanas. It might not be as challenging for people who are super-familiar with yoga, but I think that it hits a good happy medium, and wherever you're at, is a good video to supplement studio practice, or use twice a week (or more) at home.
Good workout but not very technical - Amanda Hartley-laborde - Colorado
I must admit I like the actual routine in this video. But I am not sure I feel comfortable saying this is a good beginner video because the routine is easy and basic, but the instructions Rainbeau gives are not really that great and really lack technique. She doesn't name most of the poses which means you need to be watching to see what she is doing, which is a bit annoying and a problem in many poses. Her technique is a little poor, and her verbage while instructing the routine is a little off and sometimes annoying because it doesn't really flow.
If you want to be technical about how you move throughout the routine watch the girl in back with the red hair and blue leotard.
There are also parts of the workout that if you have a bad back, as I do, and have never been to a formal yoga class, you are likely to hurt your back as she does not tell you to gently roll up or give you any of the gentle instruction that allows you to save yourself the back pain when doing yoga. Just be aware.
Other than the lack of technique and formal titles for poses I think this is a good video, but not necessarily a good one if you are a true blue beginner as it does not explain enough IMO.

Check Out The Firm - Fit & Firm Series: Power Yoga for $14.98
The Firm - Fit & Firm Series: Power Yoga Review
I started with this DVD in an aerobics class that I take. We do a different workout video everyday and this one is by far my favorite out of over 50 we've done.
I'm not very good at fast pace kickboxing type videos and this was the perfect solution for me. I was able stretch myself extremely well and gain a lot of flexibility. I'm an avid tennis player and I've noticed an improvement in my game since I've been working out with this video.
Usually, I'm turned off by yoga. I don't like the "mystical elements" most videos try to incorporate. This workout left that part out, but still manages to be extremely relaxing.
I'd recommend this video to a beginner or a pro!

Awesome! - C. Sierra - Coral Gables, Florida USA
I am new to yoga and this tape is fabulous. You can truly get addicted to doing yoga because it is so relaxing. Don't be fooled you get a really good workout but it is at a slow pace and when you finish you are filled with peace and serenity. What a godsend! Can't wait to do it again.
Yoga pure and simple - HotRN - Hyde Park, MA
The Firm has done it again. My core and lower back feel incredible after this workout. I wanted an intro to yoga without all the "jargon" and I got exactly what I was looking for with this video. Anyone who stretches and works on their flexibility regularly will be familiar with the movements and postures in this video, but there's enough of a learning curve to give those who aren't athletic/flexible something to aspire to and keep motivated. I plan to use this video on rest days or on days when I'm too tired to workout at a much faster pace.
Not a good Yoga Video - DNC - Bloomington, Indiana
I am in the minority, but I did not care for this yoga workout. I found the cueing confusing and uneven. The instructor does not state what yoga pose we are doing either which would be helpful. She never says- this is the triangle pose or warrior I. There is inadequate time spent in the stretches and the transitioning is rocky.
I enjoy many other Firm workouts but this one was a dud. I would recommend Rodney Yee Yoga DVD's or David Swenson and/or Baron Baptiste. You would get a more valuable Yoga Stretch workout and Yoga knowledge from these instructors rather than the Firm's take on Yoga.
