Letting Baby Become Part of Your Weight Loss

If you've recently had a baby, you may be looking for ways to get back into shape. Many women struggle with post-baby weight.

While it can be tricky for a new mother to find time for exercise, it can be done. What you really need to do is to find methods of exercise that suit you and your new lifestyle.

New mothers are extremely busy and may not be able to stop what they are doing and drive to the gym. Most new mothers will have irregular sleep patterns as they adapt to the needs of their baby, and are likely to be very tired.

Small babies can become part of your workout. You may already be walking your baby in a stroller each day. If this is the case, try walking a little faster or a little longer. You may even decide to run through the park while pushing your baby in her stroller.

Does your baby take naps during the day? This can be a great time to exercise in your living room. Try some of your favorite aerobics DVD's, or take up yoga. Yoga is a great way to relax and rejuvenate, which may bring additional benefits to new mothers.

As your child gets older and begins to get more active at play time, why not just join in on the fun? Your child will love having you run and play with him, and you'll be burning lots of calories just trying to keep up!

Don't forget that in addition to finding ways to increase your level of activity, you'll also need to control your diet. Now that you are no longer pregnant, you'll need to reduce your calorie intake to return to a healthy weight.

When shopping for groceries, be sure to think about how busy you are. You'll want to have some healthy, ready to eat choices like fruits and vegetables to keep from reaching for a bag of chips when you are busy.

Honorable Men Review

Honorable Men a police drama that gives the feel of watching a reality based
tv show. It has the slant of a foreign film rarely seen in the US.
The acting is real, the characters could be your next door nieghbors.
A true look a life.

Honorable Men Overview

Drug investigator Ryan Smith faces the toughest decision of his life, a choice between love and honor. Ryan finds out that the woman he loves, Mandy, is involved with the same drug dealers he is arresting.

The influence of another woman's love, and the cataclysmic climax of high risk drug raid brings the movie to a stunning turning point. Can Casey's love pull him away from the confused but alluring Mandy?

The heart-pumping action of gunfights, SWAT-raids and car chases pauses just long enough for a captivating romance set in the middle of this action movie about the take down of a drug king pin.

Save yourself the money and just order a pizza - C. ahmann - virginia
First of all let me say that I did not buy this dvd I had a friend get me a copy from the local college which is where "Ryan" worked as a teacher. So lets start with who is the girl on the cover? Did you see her for even one second in the movie because last time I checked SHE WASNT IN IT. That should hint to you the lack of intelligence that was put into this movie. I could point out atleast 200 things wrong or incredibly stupid in the film. For example, one of the most unreal scenes being the drive by with a musket scene. A MUSKET. For all that is holy where did they get the funding for this movie?!? Who let these people out into the open and thought it was ok. The sad reality is that everyone involved in this movie probably thought their careers were going to take off, especially goofus boy on the cover there. So if you're looking for a laugh then yes, please watch but its not worth . Find someone who has it because god knows we dont need a part two coming out.

Honorable Men - A. Tambascia - Boston, MA
I rather liked the movie. I thought that the movie and the music that was in the movie was pretty decent.

It IS a good movie! - Kenneth Goldberg - Virginia, USA
I very much enjoyed "Honorable Men." I found it just the right balance between drama/romance and action. The music was excellent and left me singing "No, I'm not a hero" for days. I would highly recommend this film.

Check Out The Total-Body Yoga Workout: Lower Body, Abs, and Upper Body Yoga for Beginners for $19.98

The Total-Body Yoga Workout: Lower Body, Abs, and Upper Body Yoga for Beginners Review

I bought this years ago & though they are a bit hard for those who are out of shape, I wouldn't recommend them for novices, but they are still beginner level in terms of physical/flexibility level.
The lower body is with Susanne Season. The music is light, the scene is her near the edge of a cliff with gorgeous mountain range behind her. She is alone & there is no modifications.
There is no sun salutations, but a lot of downward dog, standing fwd bends, chair & mountain. Add is lunges, hand/knee with arm/leg balance, donward dog with 1 leg lifted, plank, upward dog, warrior 1 2 & 3, triangle, side angle, half moon, dancer's pose, bridge, reclined single leg stretch, boat, sitting fwd bend, wide legged fwd bend, reclined cobblers, etc.
If you own several yoga dvds, the pace is not power fast, she holds it about 2 full breaths. I loved the workout though, there are many poses were if you do too many sun salutations, you never have time for many other poses.

You can see a preview at gaiam com any media product you see yoga lower body w/susanne in a mountain range, yoga abs with rodney yee in a desert or upperbody yoga with rodney in a valley.

The Total-Body Yoga Workout: Lower Body, Abs, and Upper Body Yoga for Beginners Overview

Living Yoga succeeds in re-creating its superb yoga programs for DVD with the three-in-one workout The Total-Body Yoga Workout, which combines the individual body part programs on one disc.

The first workout, Lower Body Yoga for Beginners, led by Suzanne Deason, is a fun, short routine that will help you to invigorate and stretch the lower body in a series of flowing postures, working to stretch, tone, and challenge one's muscles and balance. In the second segment, Rodney Yee leads Abs Yoga for Beginners, which is designed to firm and strengthen your abs while providing a soothing respite from your hectic lifestyle. The poses are, for the most part, simple to follow, although the beginner may need to ease into some of the positions. Finally, Yee leads us through Upper Body Yoga for Beginners, a workout that will stretch, strengthen, and energize the upper body. Yee flows through poses designed to develop an open, supported chest, which in turn promotes healthy circulation, breathing, digestion, and posture. For all of these programs, a firm blanket to sit upon is needed.

The extra features on this disc are the same as those on The All-Day Yoga Workout. Once again, the DVD format is ideal for a workout program--the chapter search makes it easy to skip the introduction and jump right into the body work. Or if you're short on time and just need to relax, you can move directly to the meditations. An extra feature, "Learning the Basics," has pictures of every pose with written instructions on how to do them, which is just the thing for beginners who feel befuddled when told to do a cow-face pose or gate pose. A section on props explains how to use straps, bricks, and mats in order to modify more difficult poses for less limber bodies. Finally, the interviews with Suzanne Deason, Patricia Walden, and Rodney Yee round out the DVD, making for a full program. This is the ultimate introduction to yoga; it's a workout regimen that's easy to incorporate into your daily life and fun enough to convince you to stick with it. --Jenny Brown

Great variety! - A. Ortiz - San Diego, CA United States
I've had this DVD for a long time, and I use it periodically when I need a good stretch, and can't go to the gym. I wouldn't call this a beginner workout, but its not difficult and easy to follow if you're familiar with the positions. I also like that's its easy to do if you don't have a lot of time with 3 different 20 minute workouts. I would recommend it!

Great workout, stress release. - Marisa C. -
I love this workout dvd! It's a perfect way to release stress and achieve a more calm state. The breathing techniques are amazing and I find myself using them throughout the day. I would definitely recommend this dvd to everyone.

I love the lower body workout!! - Kite Flyer - annapolis, MD
I am not a beginner by any means. I have been studying various forms of yoga for 10-plus years. I had no idea this was a beginners workout when I did it and would never recommend this for beginners.
It has, however, a very lovely, inspiring, effective, lower body workout that I plan to do often. Suzanne Deason is wonderful. Her exercising on the edge of a cliff is a bit terrifying to watch and I don't generally like yoga DVDs with "scenery" but this one works. I skip the Rodney Yee portion because he is not my favorite instructor though, of course, this is just personal preference!

Check Out Jillian Michaels: Yoga Meltdown for $5.99

Jillian Michaels: Yoga Meltdown Review

I enjoy variety, which includes Jillian's bootcamp style workouts, pilates, dance and yes, yoga. Now, if you are looking for a complete mind/body yoga that works your muscles and calms your mind this is not it. This is like yoga bootcamp. Jillian takes classic poses, downward dog, camel, triangle, boat, warrior and the like and "reps it out", meaning she does repetitions, then she holds the poses for about 15 seconds. This brings more cardio to the moves and then the strength comes in having to hold the pose.

I didn't go into this for a calm, zen-like yoga practice-truly, are you buying Jillian for her zen-line persona, or because you know she is going to work you until you drop? I have plenty of dvds by Shiva Rea, Sara Ivanhoe, Brian Kest, Erich Schiffman & Alan Finger to do a more traditional practice. With Jillian I expect for her to be "outside the box" and to kick my butt and make it challenging. I thought it was fun to use the basic yoga poses to build a more powerful cardio workout. Is it for yoga purists, absolutely not. Is it fun for a different kind of work out that works your arms, core, butt and legs. Absolutely.

The dvd has two workouts-level one and level two. Both are a little over 30 minutes long. Level one is supposed to be the "easier" of the two workouts, but I find the plank positions to be more challenging for me and did a bit better on the second workout that had more core and balancing postures.

If you are bored with your workouts and want to try something new, this is a fun one to try-the only thing you need is a sticky (yoga) mat and you are on your way. I would rate this as an intermediate workout, with a couple more advanced poses (crow, wheel) thrown in toward the end. If you are not up to the more advanced poses, you can take this to a strictly beginner level by following the person to the right that is modifying the moves, or the person to the left if you are looking to take it up a notch.

All in all, a good workout~

A softer side of Jillian - CaraDawn - Houston, TX
Over the past year I have grown to love yoga but I have never really liked yoga dvd's. I have Jillian's 30 Day Shred and I think it gives me a great quick workout but I was skeptical of how she would be on a yoga dvd. I was pleasantly surprised by Jillian's attitude on this dvd; she was calm and extremely encouraging. There is a little less yoga than I would like and a little more strength training moves but this would be great for someone just beginning yoga. It's a quick workout and of course there are variations of each exercise given. If you are looking for a little more movement than your normal yoga class you will really like her dvd. I love to use it as a cool down/stretch after running.

Good but not real yoga - Coco - Chicago, IL
I really like Jillian. I have a bunch of her other stuff and I think she is a great motivator. I bought this DVD just b/c I love her other workouts. Her workouts are the only workouts that I do at home where I really break a sweat. I have practiced yoga casually for about 8 years now. I have to say that this workout is tough and challenging but it's NOT yoga. She is obviously not a yoga instructor, which is fine but this can be particularly dangerous for those who have never practiced these yoga poses. One thing that bothered me is that she she is very focused a good challenge and not quite interested in the pose/counterpose practice. This is essential when you are doing intense backbends and fwd bends.
If you've practiced yoga before and you like Jillian and/or her workouts, then you'll like this. Otherwise, proceed with caution.

better than expected - Amy Courtnage -
I also own JM's 30 day shred video. it was very hard for me to get into that one. i got this one because it seemed like a great body weight training video. #1 plus would be i can actually do all of the routine! you can definitely feel it in your upper body, mostly shoulders and upper back muscles as well as throughout your hips and abs. Hopefully i can stay motivated to continue my workouts and see results :)
