When people tell me that yoga is only good for stretching, but doesn't improve cardio fitness, I recommend this video. Done slowly, the Sun Salutations are great for endurance, flexibility, and strength. Done more quickly, you add the benefit of cardio exercise.
I love this video because Peggy breaks down the Saluations into an easy to learn flow.
The chair version of Sun Saluation on this video also makes the Sun Saluation accessible to people who cannot work comfortably on the floor. This is also a great start for people who need to improve their flexibility, but need to start with a variation that is doable and then work their way into more advanced version. (And as trainers know, being successful is motivating.)
First thing in the morning I start with the chair version and then move on to the floor version as I limber up a bit.
During my last physical, my doctor noted that I had lost 11 lbs. in the last year. I told her it was my morning Sun Saluations.

I am resuming yoga practice after many years. I found Peggy Cappy's dvds and book, and I ordered this dvd as well. I have (at 58) issues with stiff places, sore places and cannot do some poses without modifications. I wanted to learn Sun Salutation, but I am not able to get up and down from the floor to do this the usual way..Peggy's dvd will enable me to learn Sun Salute and still gain the benefits of the pose..she is a caring and patient teacher.
Sun Salutation without finding a place on the floor - crafty - USA
I'm more likely to work out, if I don't have to set-up a place on the floor, get the mat, etc. If you don't use a mat, you need to be careful, or your feet can slip. Saw this on the PBS show, and I'm glad I did. I do the exercises holding on to the computer desk. Highly recommended.

I enjoy all of Peggy Cappy's yoga programs, however, this one which is mostly sun salutations should have had a warning that someone with wrist issues will be unable to perform it. Weight bearing on the wrists is required.

Yogilates - Intermediate Workout Review
This is a fabulous workout. I have both the beginners and intermediate and Jonathon's gentle and detailed instructions for the poses are very kind and easy to follow. He is very likable and you do work up a sweat. I would probably recommend doing this DVD in a heated room so as to really get into the streches. Overall this was a great buy and I will be looking forward to getting the next DVD from Jonathon.

I bought the DVD online for very cheap. It was precisly what I wanted for the price I was willing to pay and it was deleivered correctly.
Too Rushed - Otto - Florida
The level of instruction on this DVD is perfect for me - my only comment is the poses on this DVD are very rushed. In my local yoga class there is smooth transition between the poses. On this DVD you only hold a pose for a few moments before rushing to the next one - wish I could devise a smooth method to hit the pause button to really enjoy. Good instruction - but only watched the DVD once because of this hurried approach.

This was dissapointing to me, i was looking for an nyc style yoga/pilates burn.
this dvd is instructional and very slow.
It would be good for someone older, and out of shape, or maybe for parents and children.
His voice is very soothing and pleasant which is nice, all and all its more of a relaxing gentle experience. if thats what you're into... go for it.

Kundalini yoga instructor and wellness consultant Kristen Eykel offers this short yoga routine for Back, one of five DVDs in her 12-Minute Yoga Emergency Series. The Back practice (alternatively titled "Mid & Low Back") is 12 minutes long, the majority of which is performed on the floor. Eykel begins in easy pose with a seated spinal rock forward and back. She continues with spinal circles before moving onto hands and knees for both cat/cow and lateral spinal bends. Down dog is next, with Eykel adding a bent-knee stretch (a.k.a. "crazy dog"); this is followed by a side stretch. Eykel then incorporates what appears to be a Kundalini yoga exercise, as it involves rolling up from a squat to a standing position several times. Standing, Eykel moves through hip circles, chest circles, and finally, an upright version of the spinal rock before concluding with "sat nam."
Following the yoga routine, there is an approximately 11-minute meditation for Back (about 2 minutes of guided relaxation continuing with 8 minutes of nature sounds) There are three Stressbusters on this DVD, each about a minute long: 1) Breathing, an overview of diaphragmatic breathing, 2) Gardening, extolling the benefits of gardening as a hobby, and 3) TV & Stress, which recommends avoiding TV at night in order to improve sleep. Overall, this Back DVD offers the option of a short yoga workout addressing an area that can often become problematic for many. Eykel does not necessarily include the same yoga postures that are often seen in other yoga DVDs targeted to the back (e.g., reclined leg stretch); perhaps because of her Kundalini background, the routine that she presents here is a bit more dynamic, yet still generally accessible for most levels.

Easy and relaxing Yoga - Jason Tucker - North Carolina
Usually yoga is a hard workout and even harder to stick with a routine. One of the great things about this series is the flexibility you get. The workouts are 12 minutes, and can be combined if you want a more in-depth routine, but if you are after a fast way to raise your metabolism and flexibility, then you only need 12 minutes at a time. The DVD also gives you different options for performing each difficult move, so for beginners like me, I can find a way to follow along without falling over :)
